Lisbon is a large capital city located on the Tagus River, flowing into the Atlantic Ocean. The exciting history of Lisbon, which dates back to Roman times, left many valuable monuments behind. These include, among others, the castle of Saint George from the 12th century, the Romanesque cathedral known as Sé, the military building of Torre de Belém and the sixteenth-century monastery of Hieronymites. It is impossible to visit Lisbon that is beautifully situated on the hills in one day. Climate that is colder than in Spain encourages tourists to long hikes through the narrow streets of the city in order to admire its most charming nooks and corners.
