Praça da Figueira (Portugal) online puzzle
Praça da Figueira, or Square of the Fig Tree, is a large square located in the center of Lisbon, in the Baixa district. It is located in a place that was once occupied by the All Saints Royal Hospital. The complex of buildings was destroyed and had to be demolished in the second half of the 18th century as a result of an earthquake. The empty area was developed into a large market hall, however, with time Praça da Figueira began to serve primarily representative, communication and tourist functions. Currently, the main decoration of the square is the equestrian statue of the Portuguese king John I the Good. In the immediate vicinity there are well-known hotels, restaurants and shops.
