Lofoten Archipelago is situated close to the north-western coast of Norway, it is lying within the Arctic Circle. It consists of dozens of islands, however, the four most important ones are connected by the system of bridges. Lofoten Archipelago are characterized by mountains and peaks, sometimes overgrown with dwarf plants. The islands are underpopulated, majority of the settlements make their living from fishing. Tourists visit the islands mostly in summer, when there is a polar day and the sun never sets. The tourists are attracted by an impressive view of fiords, peaceful villages with characteristic wooden houses painted red and breathtaking landscapes. The islands are considered to be among the most picturesque ones in the world.
