Metz is a French city located on the river Moselle in Lorraine. The Gothic cathedral of St. Stephen is one of the most beautiful architectural monuments of the city. This fourteenth-century temple was built from the integration of two older churches. The monumental church is 123 meters long, the nave is 42 meters high and the windows are decorated with stained glass windows by Marc Chagall. The temple’s interior, as well as its facade, are decorated with countless statues and bas-reliefs. The Cathedral of St. Stephen is the seat of the Bishop of Metz and an important landmark, as its silhouette dominates other buildings and is visible from afar.
