Cannes is a city located in the French Riviera, one of the most beautiful regions of France. The annual Cannes Film Festival has been hosted here since 1946 and it attracts thousands of film lovers and tourists every year. The area of Cannes used to be a small fishing village, however, since the 19th century it has been visited by artists, celebrities and holidaymakers, who are attracted by sunny beaches, charming seafronts and promenades, luxurious hotels, numerous cafes, discos, restaurants and other tourist attractions. The old town called Le Suquet, which is located near the bay and harbor, is the most representative part of the city. There are the town hall, church and colorful historic houses. The former fishing port called Vieux Port, in which luxurious yachts are moored now, is situated near the Old Town. Cannes is one of the most expensive and at the same time most fashionable places in the French Riviera.
