Mammoth Hot Springs is a large complex of hot springs located in the north of Yellowstone National Park. Hot water has been leaching rocks here for thousands of years, creating fancy terraces and rock formations. They take different colors depending on their mineral composition, the type of microorganisms living on the surface, as well as the season. Most often, however, they are white-brown and red. Near the sources there is Fort Yellowstone and a historic settlement, which is where the administration of the park and a part of touristic infrastructure are located now.
