Pigeon lighthouse is considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings of California. It is located at the coast of the Pacific Ocean on a rugged rocky peninsula. The lighthouse was erected in the second half of 19th century in order to prevent catastrophes such as sinking the Carrier Pigeon ship (hence the name of the lighthouse). Today the lighthouse is considered to be a very attractive historic monument in terms of tourism. Those who are interested in the lighthouse, can admire a 35-meter white tower, view the Pacific panorama from the viewing balconies located on the tower, and also spend a night in a hostel inside the building.
