Bethlehem is a city located in the western part of Judea, a mountainous area located in Israel. According to the New Testament, Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem over two thousand years ago. The biggest tourist attractions of the city include the Basilica of the Nativity, the Milk Grotto and the Church of St Catherine of Alexandria. Due to the conflict between Israel and Palestine, Bethlehem is now a bit neglected and – although it is surrounded by a wall – is still considered dangerous. Dense architecture of small Bethlehem is dominated by beige and light gray houses. Some of their inhabitants still make a living from farming and breeding sheep.
