Monastic architecture on the island of Patmos (Greece) online puzzle
Patmos is a small Greek island located in the Aegean Sea. Due to its location, it has never had much strategic or commercial significance, nevertheless, as early as in the 11th century, the first Greek Catholic monastery was founded here. The monks inhabiting the island were granted special privileges, so more monasteries and churches appeared there. Due to the density of sacred buildings and the fact that according to tradition Patmos was the place where the Apocalypse of Saint John was written down, the island is sometimes called Aegean Jerusalem and is visited by hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year.
