Helsinki by night (Finland) online puzzle
Helsinki is the capital of Finland and the largest city of the country. It was founded in 1550 by Gustav I of Sweden and owed its rapid development to trade. Since 1809, when Finland became the part of Russia, Helsinki began resembling St. Petersburg in terms of architectural and spatial development. The city is located on the Gulf of Finland and does not have the very center as it is situated partly on land and partly on the islands of Korkeasaari, Lauttasaari and Seurasaari. Cargo and passenger port in Helsinki consists of as many as four quays. The eighteenth-century Suomenlinna sea fortress, buildings of the theater and National Bank and the Lutheran cathedral on the Senate Square are the most important historic monuments of the capital of Finland.
