Puerto Madero is a district in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina and one of the largest cities of South America. Puerto Madero is located on the river La Plata and it situated in the city’s center. The district was named after Eduardo Madera, a businessman who in the late 1800s created a design of the development of the riverside area in accordance with the London solutions. Thanks to his ideas the most modern district in the whole country was built as well as the residence of the Argentinean government and prosperous port. Today it is one of the most expensive and exclusive districts of Argentina, there are high skyscrapers, luxurious hotels and expensive shopping centers. Avenida de Mayo, the world’s widest avenue, runs through Puerto Madero as well.
