Besalú is a medieval town situated in the Catalan province of Girona. Visiting this stone settlement you get the impression that time has stopped here. Most of the buildings in Besalú are several hundred years old. The town can be accessed by a pedestrian fortified bridge with an imposing gate, where a toll was once collected.
