Statue of Bishop Gellért (Hungary) online puzzle
St. Sagredo Gellért was an Italian missionary, abbot, bishop and hermit. He was martyred in Hungary, rolled down in a barrel from the hill in Budapest, which now bears his name. On the stone hillside, just above the waterfall, there is a statue of bishop placed on a high pedestal. An outstretched hand of the saint holding a cross is directed toward the city, while at the foot of a bronze missionary a converted Hungarian kneels. Gyula Jankovits is the author of the statue, which faces towards Elisabeth Bridge that spans Pest and Buda.
