Cienfuegos is the Cuban city located on the Caribbean Sea. It was founded only in 1819 by Captain General José Cienfuegos. Cienfuegos is called the "City of Domes" as well as "Pearl of the South" and its historic center was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city hall, which used to serve the function of the Governor's Palace, is situated on the main square of the city, next to a beautiful park of José Martí. The neoclassical building was built on the pattern of the Capitol in Havana. It is crowned with a distinctive red dome, contrasting with its gray-blue facade.
