Scaliger Castle in Sirmione (Italy) online puzzle

The beautifully situated castle in Sirmione was built by one of the representatives of the influential Scaliger family of Verona, who established control over northern Italy in the thirteenth century. The monumental fortress was built to defend access to Verona, demonstrate the power of the Scaliger family and control the waters of Italy's largest lake, at the shores of which the building stands. Over the centuries the castle changed hands and was also expanded. Due to its excellent location and size, it was never captured and today we can admire its mighty walls and towers topped with characteristic battlements.
