Colorful houses in Alfama (Portugal) online puzzle
Alfama is the historic district of the Portuguese capital that is located on a hill. When the Moors inhabited the areas of Lisbon, the Alfama belonged to the city center. However, with the expansion of other districts, mainly the urban poor settled here. The Alfama, its historic buildings and the network of narrow streets survived the big earthquake in 1755, thanks to which the district still retains its historic character. The Alfama buildings have pastel facades and characteristic red roofs that beautifully present themselves against the background of the river Tagus and blue sky. The panorama of the Alfama with the surrounding monuments can be seen from the Portas do Sol vantage point.
