Town Hall in Chełmno (Poland) online puzzle
Chełmno is a town located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The name of the town refers to its location – the old Polish word chełm meant a "hill". Chełmno was granted the city rights in the 13th century and it was also the seat of the Teutonic Order. The rich history of the town has left numerous historic monuments: Gothic churches, defensive walls, tenement houses from the late 18th and early 19th centuries as well as the Renaissance town hall. The latter structure is one of the most precious edifices of the Renaissance architecture. The first town hall had been erected in the late 13th century in the Gothic style, however, it was rebuilt in the years 1567-1572. There is a measurement standard called Chełmno perch placed on the wall of the town hall. The building decorates the market of Chełmno and is the landmark of the town. It has housed the Museum of the Chełmno Land since 1975.
