South Gate in Frombork (Poland) online puzzle
Frombork is a historic town located on the Vistula Lagoon in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The castle and the fortified cathedral are the pride of the town. The Teutonic Knights had built a wooden fortress in the 13th century, whereas the castle was built in the 14th century – it used to be the residence of the bishops of Warmia. Nicolaus Copernicus, who lived and worked here in the years 1510-1543, was the Warmian canon as well. The main gate is located at the south side of the town walls and was built in the 15th century. Two semi-cylindrical towers were built on both sides of the gate. Currently the South Gate is the landmark of Frombork and it is depicted in countless photographs, drawings and postcards.
