Jodhpur is the city located in the state of Rajasthan, in the north-west of India. The city is commonly called the Blue City due to the fact that all buildings in the historic center are painted blue. The sky-blue panorama of Jodhpur is so unique that it outshines other attractions of the city, including the Mehrangarh Fort built in the middle of the 15th century by Rao Jodha Singh, the ruler of the Rathore clan. The erection of a large defensive castle there gave rise to the settlement that was founded at the foot of the hill on top of which one of the largest Indian forts was built.
