Lapland is located in the north of Finland, it is a historical region bordering Norway, Sweden and Russia. Despite the fact that we primarily associate the region of Lapland with the snow-covered fabulous home of Santa Claus, this area is dominated by swamps, tundra and taiga. Historically, the people of Lapland were mostly gathering and hunting, but the harsh landscapes and unspoilt nature of Lapland have the potential for tourism as well. Rovaniemi, the capital of the province of Lapland is located just a few kilometers from the Arctic Circle and is most popular among visitors to the region. The village of Santa Claus was built near the city, it serves the function of an amusement park.
