Parga is the Greek town located on the Ionian Sea, in the west of the country, in the region of Epirus. It is quite a popular tourist centre, full of historic monuments from various periods – from ancient times to this day. The town was under the Turkish rule for almost a hundred years. The coastal location makes the town famous for characteristic port taverns and dishes made from freshly caught fish. There is a small island of Panagia i.e. “the All-Holy” near the coast, named after one of the Holy Mother titles that are used in Orthodox Christianity.
