Rila National Park was founded in 1992 and is the largest national park of Bulgaria. The Rila has within its boundaries a rocky mountain range and magnificent forests, both coniferous and deciduous. What is more, there are over 120 postglacial lakes in the park, which are located in the high parts of the mountains. In the park there are almost 200 animal species of European and world significance, which are very well protected by the Rila National Park. The Bulgarian national park is the place, where one can enjoy the contact with wild, unspoiled nature, admiring at the same time the beauty of postglacial lakes and a picturesque mountainous landscape.
