Sankt Gilgen is a picturesque town in Austria, located at the foot of the Alps. A beautiful landscape of the town and numerous monuments made the town very popular among tourists very early - in the second half of 19th century. The most interesting building in Sankt Gilgen is the parish church of St. Giles (hence the name of the town). Some famous people were related to Sankt Gilgen, among them Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (his grandparents lived there) and Helmut Kohl (he often spent summers in the town when he was a chancellor).
