Auckland (in Maori - Tāmaki-makau-rau) is the biggest and due to its location at the foot of the Eden extinct volcano and interesting architecture, the most beautiful city of New Zealand. Auckland was established by the British in the middle of 19th century at the place of the former whaling settlement. The city is an important cultural, scientific and economic centre of New Zealand. The 328-meter high observation and radio Sky Tower is the most characteristic point in Auckland, it is also the highest building in the country.
