Atlantic City is a city located in the northern part of the eastern coast of the United States in the state of New Jersey. The city that was established in the 19th century is a popular holiday resort today, with golden beaches and bulwarks stretching along the coast of the ocean. The annual Miss America competition is also organized there. Nevertheless, Atlantic City is best known for its casinos, which have been opened here since 1976, when the authorities of the city legalized gambling. Since that time the city has become the main gambling center in the eastern part of the United States, however, it does not come up to famous Las Vegas.
