Metaxourgeio is an industrial district located in Athens. It was created as a result of the settlement of workers who work in a nearby factory. Since the summer Olympic Games in 2004, the district has slowly transformed into a fashionable place, full of art galleries, theaters, cafes, restaurants and night clubs. Metaxourgeio, as a unique space of creative activities, is particularly favored by independent artists, social activists, visionaries and hipsters. There are numerous concerts, festivals and performances on the green city squares in the area.
