Castle in Hunedoara (Romania) online puzzle
Hunedoara is a small town located in the northwest of Romania. The town boasts the most beautiful gothic castle in this country. The beginnings of the castle date back to the 12th century, when a small stronghold was erected on one of the hills of the Southern Carpathians. Over the course of history, it passed from hand to hand, and subsequent owners expanded the structure and its surface, as well as improved its defensive values, expressing their own social position. The castle owes its present shape mostly to the Hungarian magnate John Hunyadi, who in the 15th century made a significant expansion of the fortress. After his death the work was continued by his son, Matthias Corvinus, who gave the courtyard a Renaissance character. At present, the castle is one of the greatest tourist attractions in Transylvania.
