Agadir is located in Morocco on the Atlantic Ocean. The city was founded by the Portuguese in the fifteenth century. After the earthquake that completely ruined Agadir in 1960, the city lost its medina, a historic district with the most important public buildings. It was decided to rebuild the Old City in the most authentic way in order to refer to the old, Moroccan architectural and design traditions. Thanks to this, colorful Mauritanian mosaics, one of the symbols of Moroccan culture, were reconstructed. Craftsmen living in Agadir deal also with the production of jewelry and dishes that are known all over the world.
