Passau is a small town located in eastern Germany near the border with Austria. It is located on numerous hills that are separated from each other by the three rivers converging at the foot of the old town – the Danube, Inn and Ilz. Nevertheless, the attractiveness of Passau results not only from a picturesque location but also its beautiful architecture. The vibrant town was consumed by fire in the seventeenth century – despite the fact that for the inhabitants of Passau it was unimaginable tragedy, the fire influenced its present appearance. The bishops who ruled the town at that time brought Italian architects to rebuild their headquarters, they designed a new harmonious space of the town. Fortunately Passau did not suffered damage during World War II and thanks to that today we can admire the artistry of the seventeenth-century architects.
