Pulteney Bridge in Bath (United Kingdom) online puzzle
Pulteney Bridge is located on the River Avon in Bath in southern England. It is a stone arch bridge with three spans and one of only four bridges in the world to have shops across its full span on both sides. Its name commemorates Lady Frances Pulteney, the heiress of the Bathwick estate lying opposite the city of Bath. It was her husband who decided to build the crossing to connect his estate with the city. He commissioned the task from a well-known architect, Robert Adam, who was inspired by the Italian bridges. The bridge he erected has become home to many shops and stalls and it is still the main merchant passage in Bath.
