New Cathedral in Salamanca (Spain) online puzzle
Salamanca is a city inhabited by 130 thousand people, located in the western part of Spain. The city boasts one of the most beautiful old towns on the Iberian Peninsula and it is considered to be the UNESCO World Heritage Site as a whole. There are also three universities, one of which is among the oldest European academies, and two cathedrals built in the Gothic style. The New Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral Nueva) in Salamanca is the last Gothic edifice in Europe (the construction was finished in 1733), however, its decoration is also influenced by subsequent architectonic styles. The size of the temple is impressive as the cathedral towers over the old town. The Baroque dome that crowns the temple as well as the richly ornamented main façade, which is covered with elaborate reliefs, are particularly impressive.
