Town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria (Germany) online puzzle
The medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is located in the German region of Bavaria. The legend dating back to the times of the Thirty Years’ War, when general Johan von Tilly with his army besieged the town, is connected with the town’s history. The sound of the mechanic clock on one of the towers inspired Tilly to challenge the residents of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. A daredevil was supposed to drink a gallon of wine during the next chiming of the clock. The town’s mayor managed to do so and he saved the town. In order to commemorate those events the town celebrates the Master Draught Festival, during which there are feasts, games and concerts. The town has preserved its medieval climate thanks to defensive walls and original town’s gates, cobbled streets and historic churches. In Rothenburg ob der Tauber there is Europe’s largest shop with Christmas stock, which is open all year round.
