Varaždinske Toplice is a town in northern Croatia, which is well-known for its hot springs. Located among the forested Kalnik hills the town is popular among the tourists mostly due to hot sulfur springs, which reach the temperature of approximately 60°C. There are as many as five thermal pools in the town, in which joints and motor organs afflictions, rheumatism as well as diseases of digestive and respiratory systems are treated. The curing power of these waters has been known since the ancient times. The first health resort was founded here by the Romans, who built the settlement and baths, which were visited by the people coming from the entire Roman Empire. Today the ruins of the Roman baths are the additional attraction, which brings tourist to the town.
