San Diego is a sunny and prosperous city located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean in the American state of California. The city was originally inhabited by the Kumeyaay people. Due to the Spanish geographical exploration these areas were gradually transformed. At present, the city offers numerous attractions for the whole family. Apart from a rest on the beach, tourists may visit a zoo in which pandas live, Legoland and other amusement parks. The city is also a home to a large number of museums, theatres, galleries and other cultural institutions as well as to the famous Naval Base San Diego. While visiting San Diego it is a must to see the Balboa Park, the place which owes its name to Vasco Núñez de Balboa – the Spanish traveler and discoverer. It is the very place where lots of cultural and social events are organized. Visitors to the park may also admire beautiful gardens and Spanish monuments from the 19th century.
