Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and a city located on the coast of the Scandinavian Peninsula. It lies on fourteen islands spanned by fifty four bridges. Stockholm is often called the "Venice of the North", which is owed to its unique location. There are seventy museums and art galleries on its islands. The Vasa Ship from the 17th century is one of the most valuable exhibits. Tourists can take a cruise on one of the ships that ply between the islands. The residents of the capital often decide to take water means of transport as well - almost every family has their own yacht or motorboat. Stockholm has also ferry connections to other European capitals.
