Ipanema is the name of one of the coastal districts of Rio de Janeiro, however, this name is primarily associated with a popular beach located within its boundaries. Ipanema beach is adjacent to famous Copacabana and, like its more recognizable neighbor is very broad and covered with soft white sand. Ipanema teems with life around the clock – during the day the beach is full of people taking a sun bath or practicing beach and water sports, whereas in the evening the beach is dominated by club atmosphere. Drinks and beer are sold there, pop-music is played and beach laziness is replaced by dancing craziness.
