Beauty and diversity of flowers have impressed people for centuries. They belong to those plants that are used primarily because of their aesthetic value, however, some flowers are edible, whereas others are used for production of essential oils. The fact that flowers strongly influenced the aesthetic sense of human beings can be supported by the archaeological finding from the Spanish cave of El Miron. Archeologists excavated the tomb of a woman dating back 16,000 years with pollen inside, intentionally laid there. According to researchers, it is unlikely that flowers were used in a pragmatic way and it would mean that they had great symbolic meaning for people in the past.
