Stara Ľubovňa is a small town located in the north of Slovakia, in the historic region called Spiš. It is a mountainous region, however, the slopes of the mountains are gentle, with vast mountain pastures, which are ideal for cattle grazing and small-scale agriculture. Today Spiš is more and more popular among tourists, who are attracted by picturesque landscapes, mountain trails that are easy and pleasant to walk as well as a big number of defensive architecture (the Spiš Castle and the castle in Stara Ľubovňa are best known) and folk architecture. Old peasant huts are all over green hills and the most valuable objects have been placed in the beautiful Open-Air Folk Architecture Museum in Stara Ľubovňa.
