Rincón del la Vieja National Park is located in the north-west of Costa Rica. The park is mostly famous for the volcanoes that can be found within its boundaries: Rincón de la Vieja, Santa María and Cerro Von Seebach, which is extinct. Volcanic soils and unique microclimate create perfect conditions for various species of plants and animals, especially for birds as there are over 300 species of them. The park may also pride on unusual rock formations and geysers as well as beautiful landscapes, which can be admired from the high sides of volcanoes. The volcanoes can be climbed not only for the research purposes, but also regular tourists can climb them. However, Rincón del la Vieja was closed for the visitors in 2011 after the eruption.
