Buttercups on a clearing (Kazakhstan) online puzzle
The Latin name of buttercups (Ranunculus L.) was originally meant to connote a frog, due to the fact that buttercups, as well as frogs, occur on slightly soppy grounds of Europe, Asia and Africa (in some parts only). This plant grows wild, however, there are also some cultivars. The so called corn buttercups are inconspicuous and not very sophisticated plants, however, they beautifully contrast with the greenery of grasses. They bloom in spring on meadows and clearings, e.g. in the shade of the Tian Shan mountains in southern Kazakhstan. Despite a nice golden yellow color, buttercups are considered as weeds. What is more, it contains poisonous substances.
