Traditional Easter baskets prepared for blessing online puzzle
Blessing of Easter food samplings is a Catholic tradition cultivated in some European countries. On the eve of Easter breakfast believers go to church in order to have foods blessed – these samples will be shared the next day with the members of a family. The baskets contain eggs, cake or sugar lamb, salt, horseradish, sausages, Easter cakes and other dishes depending on regional traditions. Moreover, baskets are embellished with boxwood leaves, flowers and white cloths. The custom of blessing baskets with food has been known since the early Middle Ages, but historians believe it may even have pagan roots. In the Middle Ages the blessing of food during the Easter season was known throughout Europe, however, it has survived only in Poland, southern Germany, southern Austria and some regions of Slovenia.
