Summer stop no. 17 - STARGARD SZCZECIŃSKI online puzzle
The interior of the collegiate church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the World. The building started to be built in 1292. Until the mid-sixteenth century, it was a Catholic church, then until 1945 it served Protestants. From 1948 to 1957, it was a building materials warehouse. Since 1957, she has been the Catholic Church again.
We owe our beauty to an outstanding late medieval architect from Szczecin, Henryk Brunsberg, who started the reconstruction of the original church around 1380. Probably it was he who invented a beautiful division into three floors - high arcades, a strip of a three-story gallery and windows. The chancel is surrounded by an ambulatory with numerous chapels. The interior is very colorful thanks to colorful ceramic decorative elements. And all this is wonderfully displayed thanks to the strict furnishings of the church. There are no baroque and rococo gilding, altars, frames that can kill the most beautiful architecture in a second.
What can I say - this is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen (and I have seen a bit!).
