Manhattan is an island located in New York. It is the smallest, but also the most densely populated and most expensive part of the city. In Manhattan there are, among others, Wall Street, the artistic district of SoHo and Fifth Avenue full of luxurious boutiques. The main attractions of the district are located near Central Park, Broadway and Times Square. This New York district is visited by tourists from all over the world. What is more, during the day Manhattan gets crowded because of people who commute to work here. Originally, the island belonged to the Indian tribe of Delaware, from whom Peter Minuit, the director of the Dutch colony, bought it in 1626.
