Panorama of Travemünde (Germany) online puzzle
Travemünde is a borough of Lübeck located at the mouth of the river Trave. It was founded around the fortress built by Henry the Lion to guard the mouth of the river in the twelfth century. The town grew quickly around the castle as it was constantly developed by its masters. However, in the fourteenth century it passed into the possession of Lübeck and was incorporated into the boundaries of this important commercial port. Due to its attractive location, Travemünde became an important resort quite quickly. Tourists have come here since the beginning of the nineteenth century, as they are eager not only to rest on the sandy beach, but also enjoy romantic walks along the streets of the old town that is full of stunning brick houses.
