Rožmberk is a small town located in the southern Czech Republic near the border with Austria. The settlement was founded in the 13th century. It is situated in the valley of the River Vltava, among the scenic mountain peaks covered by the virgin forest. The town grew rich thanks to trade as it was situated on an important route, connecting Cesky Krumlov with the Austrian city of Linz. Today Rožmberk is known primarily as a tourist town, which is visited by the enthusiasts of mountain hiking and history. The latter ones are attracted by a famous medieval castle.
