Cuba is a country located in the Caribbean, in the archipelago of the Greater Antilles. Havana – the port city located on the Gulf of Mexico – is the capital of Cuba. The Old Town in Havana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to numerous examples of colonial architecture including the town hall, the 16th-century Castle of the Royal Force (Spanish: Castillo de la Real Fuerza) and the 17th-century Santa Clara Monastery. The Cathedral of The Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception with asymmetric towers was built in the Baroque style and is located in the Cathedral Square (Spanish: Plaza de la Catedral). Nevertheless, the panorama of beautiful Havana is particularly dominated by the Capitol, a monumental building from 1926 crowned with a large dome. The edifice recalls the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.
