Panorama of Cremona seen from the bell tower (Italy) online puzzle
Cremona is a city located in the north of Italy. Its history goes back to the ancient times, when a settlement was established on that spot, which was meant to protect the borders of the Roman Empire. The settlement was growing rapidly, becoming the most important town in the region at the beginning of our era. In the Middle Ages Cremona was one of the centers of learning, whereas in modern times it became an important center of violin-making. Antonio Stradivardi – a world-known luthier – was born here. The Romanesque cathedral, which boasts the largest campanile in Italy, i.e. the bell tower, is considered the most beautiful monument of the city. The tower is over 112 meters high and is open to visitors, who willingly climb the steep stairs in order to see the magnificent panorama of the city.
