Dunluce Castle (Ireland) online puzzle
Dunluce Castle is located on the northern coast of Ireland, on a large rock rising over the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks to such location the castle served defensive functions –it is surrounded by extremely steep drops on three side and it is separated from the mainland by a gap, which can be crossed using the bridge. It was built in the 13th century and served the function of the residence the local ruler until the 17th century, when the family holding these lands was greatly impoverished. The castle fell into disrepair and was abandoned eventually, whereas the stones, of which it had been built served as the building material for the inhabitants of the surrounding area. In the 18th century the edge of the cliff and one of the walls of the castle collapsed to the sea due to erosion. Today Dunluce castle is a ruin, nevertheless it is still very attractive. Tourists willingly visit the mysterious remains.
