One of the most beautiful and best recognizable buildings of Helsinki is the Dormition Cathedral, the most significant Orthodox temple in the country and the symbol commemorating the past of Finland, which belonged to Russia in the 19th century. The Russian influence is visible everywhere in Helsinki, as the architecture of the city was meant to correspond with the style of Petersburg at that time.
