Red telephone booths have become the symbol of the United Kingdom. These characteristic booths were designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. They appeared on the streets of London for the first time in 1936. It was decided to commemorate in such a way the anniversary of king George V death. "Phone boxes" are the first unified telephones on the area of the whole country. Red booths can be found in The Design Museum in London as one of the canons of modern utilitarian art. Today red booths are still on the streets of London, however, there are also new booths, in which there are minicomputers, thanks to which one may not only make a phone call, but also surf in the Internet freely.
